A Good Two Hours

My kids and I have greatly needed a moment to just breathe and be. Wednesday provided us with two hours of just breathing.

And something to look forward to...
...signs of Spring!!!

Mission Accomplished

Beware no longer. I was able to follow through on the horrid-ness of the refrigerator on Thursday. You'll remember the ghastly sight, if not look at this.

And now, clean as a whistle. Unless you are a whistle that belongs to one of my children...

I'm still not used to the bare facade of the ol' fridge. As I round the corner there is this void of creamy white over my left shoulder. I've jumped twice (don't believe me, ask Brett) because I thought there was something there...What kind of something, I don't know, but something!

See what happens when a Messie leaves her comfort zone. Oh, and I know the rule of thumb is to put nothing on top of the fridge, but I can only be stretched so far!! Besides it's just a picture of my kids, a candle, a jar of the boys' stamps, a plate and a bowl/basket thing. We're good.
And yay for follow through!!

Inside a Messie's Mind and Accomplishment

Hi, I'm Adelia. And I'm a Messie. I think I've been a Messie my entire life. I'm a Perfectionist Messie. I'm married to a Spartan Messie. And this is okay. At least it's okay now that I've read and am re-reading the Messies Manual by Sandra Felton. Love, love the Messies Manual. It let's you know that you are okay and their is reason to the chaos. Not only reason but hope. Oh, to hope! Before I go further let me give you definitions of the above mentioned Messies according to the Messies Manual.

Perfectionist Messie: Are all the spoons in your kitchen drawer neatly nested up to one another, while all the pots in the house sit in the sink and sulk? Why yes, they are. How did you know?!? So me!! Perfectionist Messies have a hard time cleaning because they want it done perfectly while knowing there is no way they can do it perfectly. The answer is simple to a Perfectionist. Don't do it. There is no other choice, right? Oh but the help in the Messies Manual is fantastic!!

Spartan Messie: How long ago did you toss out your ironing board? Brett just throws things away instead of dealing with them. Always dangerous to have him clean...I shudder at the thought!! I wonder how many treasures I've lost because of that man? That's another thing, Messies bond with their things. If I were to see something Brett tossed out, even though right now I can't think of a specific belonging, I would re-bond with it, and love it, and give it a home on a stack of stuff. Stacks...I'm a stacker, an overcoming stacker.

Okay, to the good stuff. I've fallen off the Messie wagon and am climbing back on. I can do this. I looked at my refrigerator the other day and decided it was making me nutty. The goal for Monday was simple. Clean it off. But then the Messie mind took over. On top of my fridge were some scents I use in my Hyla. Which reminded me that I wanted to move all of my cleaning products into the laundry room. Which reminded me that I wanted to clean my hideous laundry room. This is what a Messie does. She gets distracted and works in several places never really making a dent in her home. Even though she has worked very hard, there is no gratification. Sigh. This line of thought with so many tangents slapped me directly in the face. I knew I had to open the book again. I also realized I needed to finish a project. Stick to one area. And I have.

I put my big girl boots on today. So, I'll show you my mess.

The Dreaded Messy Catch-All of a Refrigerator: BEWARE

Hideous, I Don't Want to Go in There Laundry Room

And here's the funny/not so funny part. There are empty bottles of products all over this room. What's even more strange is I don't know who used them. We only use one brand, so these are random. Probably my mom...She does laundry here...She's a Sentimental Messie...

Messy, Messy

Those were the Befores and Now here are the Afters

Beautiful, Clean Laundry Room.

That basket is holding some plants I'm rooting. Oh, you should have seen that sink before, but my boots aren't that good...

And this is the treasure box. A box used for the odds and ends found in the laundry. Let's see what we have: 92 cents, rocks from Granny's (from our visit last summer), Mr Potato Head's feet, a car, a whale, and a shell. Not too bad.
I have my favorite egg crate holding paints and this and thats. My light bulbs are now up high in a jar. A cookie jar turned around so you can't see the word cookie.

All of my laundry products, cleaning products and scents for the vacuum are in this handy dandy thing that has been sittin' empty covered by lint for years!

And I gave it a homey edge by moving one of my favorite little pictures into the room. I'm going with reds and pinks because I don't have those colors any where in my home. But I do like red and pink. So now they are a part of me.

I love this red fabric used to mistreat this window. It lowers down to keep the hot sun out when necessary. I have my plants out here hoping to make it look alive and welcoming. Welcoming, because I oh so dislike this room. Hopefully, the changes will also change my mindset.
Well, there it is, my laundry room.
And the fridge is still sulking....

That Kid!!!!

My Little Hoot did a bang up job Friday afternoon. Yep, he followed in the foot steps of his older brother, T-Bird, and dislocated his elbow. Nothing a trip to the ER couldn't fix. This boy is such a sweet, beautiful HANDFUL!!! I just noticed he stole my camera and took a couple of pictures, give or take 85!!!!!!! Here's some of his handy work.

Wooo...Light...woooo...

2 little guys' set of feet...can you see Hoot's belly button?

Lily in the laundry basket! Lily!! Prof X hiding behind the laundry basket.

Brother's feet.

He's been telling me he's fast, but man, look at him go. Go Prof X! And apparently, the Prof is Hoot's favorite subject.

KWerner Color Inspiration #41

I had recently mentioned in my "Good Report" that I attended my first ever card swap. Once again, I had a great time. Suzanne is the lady who reeled me in on the stampin' hobby. Suzanne and that whole group of ladies are so inspiring and wonderful. I just received an email from the ever fantastic Trish, informing me that my card which I made for the swap qualifies for KWerner's color inspiration challenge. Seriously...accidental greatness, that's me. I feel that if Ms Trish has suggested that I should upload my card, then I'll upload my card. Thanks for having faith in my little card, Trish. So here it is.

Our Star Artist

Look at our little genius of an artist. Brett's company hosts an art contest for a safety calendar. The calendar is made up of kids of employees art about safety. This year our little T-Bird entered. And guess what, he's piece was chosen for the month of April!!! They sent him a calendar and a backpack. They also had a drawing for a Wii out of all the winners. A girl in Kansas won the Wii. T thinks it's best that she got it because really, what else is there to do in Kansas?? What a graceful little guy. He probably secretly thinks we'll get him one . Um, I don't think so. The video game systems we have were mine and Brett's from childhood or I acquired them through one of my brothers. My brother Bobby will do anything for twenty bucks...sucker. My kids think the original Nintendo is awesome...Actually, it is awesome. Anyway, to actually purchase a Wii...hmm...I'm still using the 13inch TV I was given as a Christmas present 11years ago. Seriously, it's highly doubtful he'll be getting one any time soon.

Here's the little man with his calendar. His theme was "Around the Clock Safety" with a day and evening/early morning view. He is a clever kid. We're proud of you T-Bird!!!

The Good Report

We have had a blast of a week. Well, as of Wednesday, I was still a bit down, but then things just picked up and took off. Here's my good report.

1. My kids finally got to play outside. They had been contained indoors since there was no way for them to warm back up. So, Saturday afternoon I took them on a walk. (2 Saturdays ago.) They crushed every semblance of ice and snow on the road. This walk comprises several of my goods in the report. :)

2. We were able to see a train go by on our walk. Hoot was ecstatic and started yelling for "James" the tank engine to return. He has started saying follow me. It is soooooo cute!!

Following him to the train.

Just past this is where I halted the expedition. :) I had to carry the little guy away.

3. There is treasure everywhere! I love this video because the little gentlemen are so busy, each in their own way. You know I love random!
(Make sure to turn off the music at the bottom of my page)

4. More treasure! A jungle gym of trees!! Perfect for little boys!

5. Catching Hoot saying follow me. This is so precious and priceless to me!
(Remember to turn off the music all the way at the bottom)

6. Going to the Eagle watch with the littlest of the littles. We had a good time. It was good Mommy and littles time. Daddy and T were resting their tummies at the house.

7. A good Thursday. I attended and participated in my first ever card swap. I was literally shaking when I pulled out my cards to pass out. Seriously, I was stampin' with the big girls. This was my sink or swim moment! I think I'm holding a good doggy paddle right now, but I had a GREAT time. And then onto another meeting that was just what I needed! It was a good night!

8. Even though this has been on our power line, we've continued to have electricity. The electric guys came out with a gentle reminder from me. Now we have our back yard back.

These are spears of branches that we found jabbed into the ground form their fall. They were at least 6 inches deep. SCARY!

9. I'm so thankful for being married to a man who can repair almost anything!!! I wish I had an accurate list of the things he has taken care of!! He really is a handy guy!
10. My Mommy and I had an awesome day/weekend. I can't tell you how much fun we've had and how much we've laughed!!!
11. (Yes, I'm going over the usual 10 items. I'm just feeling really blessed right now!) The book Drawing Near. It's what I need when I need it!
12. Natural Falls with the kiddos on Friday. I didn't take my camera for several reasons. I missed a couple of really cool moments but that's okay! We're now expert hikers! There are so many downed trees. One of the trees covered one of the steeper, sheerer areas. (Okay, it was either that or the insane mountain of gravel!) Anyway, we obviously made it. It was awesome! You should have seen my mountain goat children climbing and scooting!!!! We had a really peace inducing time together. So nice. There is also a tree over the water in the forest floor near the little bridge. While the little two ate whales, T-Bird monkeyed back and forth over it. I love having agile children. They run well, climb well, jump well.... :)
14. My garage has been defunked! It's been an all day process, but the carpetting has been pulled and the floor has been sanitized. It was still smelling a little Pet Store-ish, but a quick spray of some Home Trends LOC made things all the better! Good bye gross!
15. My house is finally starting to come together! My long awaited poster/art is on it's way to custom framing via my Mommy's gift to me. Two Mondays from now will be another happy day for me! I've so delayed gratification on this one!!!!!!
And there it is, the good report.
